North Korea announces new military target

Dec 29, 2022

Pyongyang [North Korea], December 29: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on December 27 revealed new targets for the country's military in 2023, KCNA reported.
The above statements were made on the second day of the 6th Expanded Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
According to KCNA, Kim considered the challenging new situation on the Korean peninsula and the broader political context, thereby orienting the "struggle against the enemy". Mr. Kim also presented new core goals to be vigorously pursued by 2023 to strengthen self-defence. KCNA did not elaborate on the goals, but Reuters said Kim's comments showed that Pyongyang would continue to build up its military amid heightened tensions on the Korean peninsula.
