Japanese Princess Aiko will work for the Red Cross

Tokyo [Japan], January 23: Princess Aiko is currently a fourth-year student at Gakushuin University and will work at the Japanese Red Cross after graduating.
NHK reported that Princess Aiko , the only child of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, plans to start working for the Japanese Red Cross in April after graduating from university.
Her work at the Red Cross, headquartered in Tokyo , will begin on April 1, the Imperial Household Agency said. Princess Aiko (23 years old) is currently a fourth-year student at Gakushuin University in Tokyo.
The Red Cross has more than 60,000 employees and operates hospitals, blood transfusion centers and nursing training facilities across the country. Empress Masako is the honorary president of this organization.
Princess Aiko has participated in many welfare activities through her royal duties and university studies. In October 2023, the princess, along with the Emperor and Empress, visited the Red Cross to see an exhibition about relief efforts after the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923.
Officials said such experiences helped inspire her to seek participation in Red Cross activities.
Details about her job at the organization are yet to be determined, but officials said she will work as a contract employee to balance her work at the Red Cross and her royal duties. .
Princess Aiko released a statement through an assistant and said she was happy to work for the Red Cross . She hopes to continue studying and working hard as a member of society .
The Emperor and Empress shared that they hope their daughter will grow through work and try her best to help as many people as possible.
