May 01, 2026

Beirut [Lebanon] / Tel Aviv [Israel], May 1: Twnety-seven people were killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon, including two minors and at least four women, the Health Ministry in Beirut said.
The attacks on various locations in the south of the country, near the city of Nabatiyah, also injured 23 people, the ministry said. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it was investigating the reports. It released a statement in the afternoon saying it had targeted Hezbollah military installations in southern Lebanon. The Iranian-backed militia had used these facilities to launch attacks against the State of Israel and Israeli soldiers, the army said.
The Israeli military further said it fired surface-to-air missiles several times during the day at "suspicious aerial targets" that had entered Israel or been identified near Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon. Rocket fire triggered warning sirens in northern Israel.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on Israeli positions in Lebanon, including strikes on tanks and drones. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah flared up again following the US-Israeli war with Iran. Israel and the Lebanese government agreed to a ceasefire.
