U.S. top official Alice Wells arrives in Sri Lanka

Colombo (Sri Lanka), Jan 14: Principal Deputy for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells has arrived in Sri Lanka on a two-day official visit.
The top U.S. official, accompanied by a three-member delegation arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake at 3.35 am on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-198 from New Delhi.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka and officials of the US Embassy in Colombo received Ms. Wells and the delegation at the airport.
Welcoming Ms. Wells, the U.S. Embassy said the United States will continue to engage with Sri Lanka on a range of bilateral issues
"We continue to engage across the spectrum of bilateral & regional issues with Asia's oldest democracy, including on our shared interests in a free & open Indo Pacific that fosters prosperity, democracy, security & human rights for all," the Embassy tweeted.
During the two-day visit to Colombo, the U.S. top official will meet with senior government officials and members of civil society to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues, including shared interests in a free and open Indo-Pacific region that fosters prosperity, democracy, justice, and human rights.
