Hosts Mongolia grabs eight medals at Ulan Bator Grand Slam of judo

Ulan Bator [Mongolia], June 25: Host nation Mongolia grabbed eight medals, including two golds on the first day of the Ulan Bator Grand Slam of judo which started here on Friday.
On the first day, matches of the women's 48kg, 52kg and 57kg categories, as well as men's 60kg and 66kg categories were held.
In the men's 66kg category, Mongolia's BattogtokhErkhembayar, his compatriots Gunjinlkham Sod-Erdene and YondonperenleiBaskhuu took gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. Another bronze medal went to YagoAbuladze who participated in the event as a neutral athlete under the flag of the International Judo Federation (IJF).
In the men's 60kg category, RyujuNagayama from Japan won the gold, while Yang Yung-wei of Chinese Taipei took the silver. Bronze medals were shared by South Korean Lee Ha-rim and Mongolia's EnkhtaivanSumiyabazar.
In the women's 57kg category, Mongolia'nLkhagvatogooEnkhriilen beat Daria Kurbonmamadova, a neutral athlete, to take the gold.
The Ulan Bator Grand Slam 2022 is the first qualifying round for the Paris 2024 Olympics, and has a total prize fund of 154,000 euros.
The tournament is scheduled to finish on Sunday.
