Jan 14, 2020

Colombo (Sri Lanka), Jan 14: Former minister and UNP parliamentarian Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has been discharged from the hospital after completing treatment, hospital sources said.
Former Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne was admitted to the Cardiology Unit of a private hospital in Narahenpita on 26th December.
The hospital manager in charge of the hospital stated that the former minister had left the hospital this morning on medical recommendation after completing treatment.
Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne was arrested by the CID while he was receiving treatment at the private hospital.
The Parliamentarian was arrested and remanded last month over the controversial 'white van' media conference on November 10 ahead of the presidential elections. The Colombo Magistrate's Court granted bail to Senaratne on Dec 30.
However, the Attorney General has filed a revision petition in the Colombo High Court against the lower court order granting bail to former minister. The petition will be heard on January 17.
